It is the story of an old fashioned storyteller named Nambi, in whom Narayan has created a character of mythic dimensions. Nambi was known for telling these great and captivating stories until one day he ran out of story telling juice lol not exactally he struggled to finish a great story he was telling and the people of his village lost faith in him and didnt want to hear from him any more but Nambi explains how his gift was from a godess and he was only able to speak when she had something to say and is struck dumb when she doesnt and says this was the greatest story he's ever told (beacuse it was the truth) after he's says what on his heart he swears himself to silence.(passing away) a few years later.
There were a couple things that I didnt know of that i wanted to know about one was, what the heck was a banyann tree ?
The tree is an East Indian tree that puts out aerial shoots that grow down into the soil forming additional trunks. (Shown above) and its said to grow figs as well (yummy)
Another thing I wanted to know more about was dhoties.
Dhoties is basically traditional Indian clothing worn by both men and women. (shown below)
